The ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills, a passion for inventory management, American art history knowledge, and the initiative to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.

Michael Rosenfeld Gallery operates at the highest level of excellence and this Registrar will support our Senior Registrar with the following duties that include but are not limited to:

FRAMING
– Facilitate all framing needs
– In collaboration with the gallery owner, design frames within specific gallery and artist standards and effectively communicate designs to framer
– Maintain a rigorous schedule, meeting tight deadlines for all framing needs
– Maintain a detailed framing spreadsheet, tracking work in progress
– Assist with daily transfer of artworks to and from gallery to framers
– Schedule weekly framing meetings and maintain ongoing relationship with framers
– Ensure that all artwork labels are recorded, preserved, and affixed to each artwork
– Assist with maintaining historical records of all frames for future reference
– Maintain expense allocation spreadsheets

CONSERVATION
– Facilitate all conservation needs
– In collaboration with gallery owner, determine conservation needs for new and existing inventory and effectively communicate conservation needs to the appropriate conservators
– Maintain a rigorous schedule and meet tight deadlines for all conservation work to be comp leted
– Organize and track all conservation trea tments
– Maintain ongoing relationships with conservators
– Assist with maintaining detailed and organized records of conservation treatments for historical reference and estate management
– Maintain working knowledge of conservation treatments for fine artworks

INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
– Assist with ensuring all artwork records are up-to-date and accurate; audit database regularly and confirm records have complete information including but not limited to inventory numbers, provenance information, storage locations, status, framing information, conservation reports
– Assist with conducting regular audits of inventory in storage both in the gallery and in off-site storage locations
– At the end of each week, prepare and send via email to staff a report listing new inventory for the work week along with individualized instructions for conservation and framing
– Prepare and send via email to staff at the end of each day, an incoming/outgoing in ventory report reflecting all art in transit for that day

SHIPPING
– Create shipping and proforma invoices
– Obtain shipping costs and estimates, maintaining thorough knowledge of customs laws and regulations
– Assist with coordinating crating and shipping to and from lenders, consignors/consignees, artist studios, clients, and storage spaces
– Assist with coordinating shipping and crating needs for museum and exhibition loans, including international institutions
