The Science History Institute is recruiting for the limited-duration (10-week), part-time (20–25 hrs per week) paid position of Museum Collections Research Intern. The Museum Collections Research Intern will research existing museum collections related to dyes and pigments for an upcoming exhibit on color, to identify existing objects, process, and add additional information into Past Perfect. Additionally, the Museum Collections Research Intern will work closely with the Research Curator and the Collections Manager with updates on progress, finds, and issues.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Experience in information studies or database management, or current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in the following areas of study: history, digital humanities, history of science, museum studies, or library science
- Demonstrated knowledge of database or collections management systems; experience with PastPerfect a plus
- Strong research abilities, written communication, and organizational skills
- Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Interest in dyes, pigments, and textiles a plus
- Interest in pursuing a career in collections management, registration, and/or library science a plus
