Description

The Director of Loans steers and implements policies and procedures relating to exhibition registration.  In partnership with the Executive Director for Collections and Loans, drives the strategy to develop a high performing team in tune with the needs of the exhibition program. Introduces new methods and creative ideas to the challenges of the modern museum.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes guidelines and oversees execution of new and revised procedures regarding the management of exhibitions registration.

  • Supervises all aspects of exhibitions registration: loan agreement negotiation, budget, shipping, packing and insurance.

  • Assesses risk management of the yearly exhibitions and advices on insurance issues including US Government Indemnity program.

  • Drives the implementation of new uses of technological platforms, data and analytics for exhibitions.

  • Participates in the coordination of exhibitions with all departments involved.

  • Supervises and mentors a team of exhibition and loans registrars.

  • Creates collaborative workflows with a broad spectrum of co-workers. Nurtures a network of colleagues in national and international museums.

  • Performs additional tasks as needed.
